HE ROSE - An Easter Poem

This world was lost

Full of people on the way
To an eternity in hell
Separated from you forever
Doomed to live a life of torture
Too many unspeakable acts to tell

Knowing the path of destruction
We were on
You sent your son
From the holiest place
He came down from glory
At His place by Your side
To live among us for 30 years
Before He even began his ministry
And at the right time

Jesus! You rose
And began to do miracles
You healed the sick
Cast out demons
And brought the dead to life
People came from everywhere around
To hear your message of hope
Crowds often too big to count
Filled homes, and streets, buildings and beaches
To hear you teach

You rose
Against the Pharisees and teachers of the law
You rose
Against the practices of religion
And everyone then saw
Then after everything you did
You were betrayed
By the one closest to you
Yes it was one of your own
Who turned You in
When the soldiers came
To take you away
You rose
In faith knowing the time was here
To redeem all mankind

You rose
Time and again after being struck
And knocked to the ground
You were unfairly tried
And the very people you loved
Turned You over to be flogged
While they let a criminal go
Who should’ve died

You rose
And approached the place
Where you knew you would suffer pain
Then after being beaten
Nearly to death
Having been taken to the edge of sanity
Your tears flowed like rain

Still You rose
And made the long walk
Carrying the cross
To Your body’s final resting place
You yelled in pain
As they nailed Your hands and feet to the cross
They stood You up and pierced Your side
Dislocated Your shoulder
So You couldn’t even lift
Yourself to catch a breath

Still you rose
And said a prayer
You asked for forgiveness
For those who tortured you
And as you breathed your last
You said, “It is done.”
And committed Your spirit To God
And Your body to the grave

Still You rose
And for 3 days
You went down to hell
And battled the devil and his demons
With all authority in heaven you weren’t afraid
Buried them so deep
Served them up on a plate like a waiter
You chained them down and they couldn’t move
And all they could do is weep.
You rose
And because You rose
We win
You defeated death and shut down hell
For all who believe in You
And we as believers
Will go out and tell
So others will have the chance to receive You

Because You rose
You are the God who now lives
And with you we have
The ultimate victory
Because You rose
You are the God who gives
Eternal life to all who want it
Paradise forever walking on streets of gold
Living with you
And praising you eternally
Jesus I am so grateful You rose
You are the God of life
And because you suffered and died
We have the chance
To have everlasting life
Because you suffered and sacrificed
We will live with you forever
As your spiritual wife

When you died you defeated death forever
You rescued all human beings
All we have to do is choose
To welcome you into our life
Eternal happiness is possible
For all who accept you
And for those who choose
To die without knowing you
Death and eternal destruction
Awaits them for sure

All of this we can easily avoid
If we just believe and have faith
In our one true savior Jesus
Salvation is free the price was already paid
This is why Jesus, YOU ROSE

THE JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH!

I have always been a pleasant personality type. I love people and I love talking with them, finding out what makes them who they are. I always have. But even though I was mild-tempered I was not always happy. I spent 15 years of my life in a constant state of depression. I would cry a lot, up to 6 times per day and sometimes I would leave my job to take a break and just go to my car and cry during my midnight shift. I didn’t understand why I was so sad all the time.

There were many nights when I felt like cutting my wrists and I remember going into the kitchen and grabbing the biggest knife I could find and running it across my wrists, lightly to see what it would feel like. I wanted to end it all because I was suffering so much. I couldn’t figure out why I was sad all the time and the depression let to other things like back, neck, and severe stomach pain. Then the headaches followed. So severe to the point where I have been admitted to the hospital several times. So I would take the knife to my wrists because I thought I could end my suffering by ending my life.

When I didn’t have the “guts” to do it I just started cutting myself in other places on my body. I was angry because I was so much of a wimp I didn’t even have the guts to kill myself. At least I thought I was a wimp. I didn’t know I was under a spiritual attack because I didn’t know God then. I mean I knew who He was but I didn’t talk to Him. I didn’t read the bible at all and I definitely didn’t go to church except for twice a year – Easter and Christmas. I laugh now when I think about how I was one of “those type of churchgoers”.

I didn’t realize that there was a war going on in the spirit realm for my soul. Yes God was trying to keep me with Him and the devil was trying to take me with him. Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (KJV) “The thief” is referring to the devil. His only job is to take my life, not all at once, but slowly one day at a time. When I was up late at night it was the devil speaking in my ear to put the knife to my wrists and take my life. When I didn’t do it, he convinced me to make slits on my arms and body.

The “I” refers to Jesus. Jesus said He has come so that we may not just live, but live a wonderful life of overflow, having all we need. It is not God’s will for us to die without knowing Him. He said in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, ‘declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” So there is the spiritual battle. We must understand that the devil wants our soul bad but God wants us more. The devil sends things like depression, foreclosure, repossession, homelessness, migraine headaches, cancer, etc. to cause us to “want to” end it all. And sadly some of us do. I almost did. When we understand the battle we are fighting we can be victorious every single time. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12)

If you don’t believe the devil wants your soul, read the book of Job. The devil and God are talking about Job and is asking God if he can have Job basically! Now I don’t want that conversation about me but this just goes to show how badly the devil wants our souls. But even more importantly it shows how weak the devil really is compared to God! He can’t do anything to you without your permission! So take your authority in God and banish the devil from your life and you will see some incredible things happen as you begin to put your angels on assignment. God will literally works miracles and deliver you from the things that the devil has you bound in.

Trust God only and you will be victorious and you will experience the ultimate joy that can only be found in the Lord! You will experience peace that surpasses all understanding. People will ask you “Why are you so happy all the time?” Then you can tell them why. It’s because of what Jesus did for me! (1 John 5:1-5)

God bless you!

HELP ME, I'M SIDETRACKED! AND I CAN'T GET BACK ON!!

When we were kids old enough to leave our street on our bicycles, we would often ride to the train tracks in our area. (Why do little boys always have to do only the most dangerous things? LOL!) Well we were fascinated by trains and we used to see if we could derail them with our bad little selves!  We would call ourselves placing pennies, nickels, quarters and even small rocks on the track to try to derail them.  Then we would run away from the tracks when we hear the train coming and hide in the bushes to watch the chaos that would most definitely ensue when the train hit our "foreign objects" on the tracks.  Well to our dismay the train would run right over them and smash them completely! The rocks were turned into fine dust.  The coins were as thin and flat as a piece of paper! How could this happen after all of our careful planning?  I mean we thought we knew what we could do to derail this train.

Well when we are on the path that God has for us we need to be moving forward like a fully-loaded freight train. What gives you that unstoppable power when you're moving toward God's goals for you? Well... God of course!! God has put everything you need inside of you to prepare you for your journey. If you've been reading your Word everyday, spent time in prayer and seeking God, then you are ready to move forward to your destiny like a freight train. The freight train is powered by your faith. Your faith pleases God. "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11:6 KJV) Your works demonstrate your faith. God sees this and begins to fuel your train with His power by way of His Holy Spirit. "The very moment you separate body and spirit, you end up with a corpse. Separate faith and works and you get the same thing: a corpse." (James 2:26 MSG)

When you start picking up steam and you get rolling you get to the point where you are unstoppable. God is moving in your life in a major way because you've yielded to the flow of the Holy Spirit and now He is open doors that were once shut. You are getting access to people and places that in the beginning had their doors shut to you. All of the rocks and coins that were on the track are crushed into fine dust and scattered over the track. And if you do fall off for a moment, you can get back on, pick up steam again, and open the gate so the Holy Spirit can flow once again. Keep on trying and eventually the huge boulders that once derailed you become small pebbles. The huge mountain that once stood in your way jumps up and moves when it sees you coming because it knows you will crush it with one mighty spiritual blow. All you have to do is speak to that mountain and it MUST move out of your way. "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith." (Mark 11:23 KJV)

When you have God on your side the devil's attacks are like those coins and rocks we used to put on the tracks.  The devil will try to derail God's plans for you by placing objects and distractions in front of you.  And they usually will appeal to some fleshly desire you've had.  Learn to recognize the devil's distractions and they will become nothing more than just road signs that you pass by on the way to your destiny and God's plans for your life.

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20 NIV)

God bless you!
